The Necromancer's Staff - Isaac Kellis

I decided to do this assignment in 3d

modeled in Zbrush
retopologized it in 3d Coat
 baked out textures with Xnormal
textured in Photoshop and the Quixel Suite

It ended up taking a very long time- about 20 hours from start to finish

The most time consuming parts were retopology and texture baking/cleanup

C&C welcome

Isaac Kellis

  1. Heres a turntable (youtube) which I'll replace later with a better one, but I was pretty tired at the time

  2. daaaang, going above and beyond! I really like it, i think the shapes are interesting and i like that the shape is unique and memorable but still fairly simple. the actual painting/coloring also looks really nice, i think you got the glowing feeling really well. the only thing i would say though is that it doesn't really feel like a necromancer's staff, or anything to do with the undead, and that's mostly because of your color palette choices. I think your silhouette doesn't immediately convey "undead" which is fine, but then the colors need to make up for it. Maybe if it were a darker wood, or not a pretty, ethereal sky blue color. Either way, great job :D
